Was heute in Deutschland funktioniert
Stand Oktober 2026. Jahreszahlen ab 2027 sind unsere Einschätzung.
| Baustein | Status in Deutschland | Was Sie jetzt tun können |
|---|---|---|
| Produktfeeds und KI-Attribute | heute live | Feeds bereinigen, neue Attribute pflegen |
| KI-lesbare Website | heute live | strukturierte Daten, Agenten-Zugriff steuern |
Wer heute wartet, fängt später an.
Warum nicht einfach abwarten?
- Die Hälfte wirkt sofort. Daten- und Leseschicht verbessern Ihre Sichtbarkeit in KI-Antworten schon heute.
- Tests brauchen Zeit.
Many merchants hear about agentic commerce and rightly ask: can a customer in Germany already order from me in ChatGPT or Gemini today? The honest answer: not yet. The better news: most of the work this requires can be done today, and part of it pays off immediately.
What works in Germany today
- Getting found and recommended. AI models draw on product feeds and websites. Google already evaluates new Merchant Center attributes for AI surfaces, such as product FAQs, accessory information and manuals. They feed into AI Overviews and AI Mode[1].
- Being understood. Structured data on your pages, unambiguous attributes and prices that match the feed decide whether an AI model represents your offer correctly.
- Buying in your store. The AI model recommends, the customer clicks and buys from you. OpenAI also made this the standard route after withdrawing buying in the chat[6].
What doesn't work yet, and when it is coming
Checkout directly inside AI models has so far been available mainly in the US. Google launched it in February 2026 via the Universal Commerce Protocol in AI Mode and the Gemini app, initially only for US users and with a handful of merchants such as Etsy and Wayfair[2]. According to heise, Canada and Australia are to follow, then the United Kingdom[3]. There is no date yet for Germany or the EU; observers expect 2027 at the earliest[1].
On the payments side, Europe is further ahead: in July 2026, Visa processed the first live payments by AI agents at European merchants, together with banks such as Commerzbank, ING and Revolut[5]. It is still open how far strong customer authentication under PSD2 can be delegated to an agent[7].
Roadmap for Germany
As of October 2026. Years from 2027 onwards are our own estimate.
| Building block | Status in Germany | What you can do now |
|---|---|---|
| Product feeds and AI attributes | live today | clean up feeds, maintain the new attributes |
| AI-readable website | live today | structured data, manage agent access |
| Ordering interface (UCP, ACP) | buildable today, launch expected from 2027 | build it and test it in a sandbox |
| Agentic payments | first live payments in Europe, broad launch expected from 2027 | prepare with your payment service provider |
| Autonomous purchases with a mandate | expected from 2028 | build reliable stock and delivery data |
Which infrastructure you can build today
The protocols are openly documented. With the Universal Commerce Protocol, for example, a merchant publishes a manifest at /.well-known/ucp that describes which capabilities it offers and which payment handlers it supports. The ordering flow runs through checkout sessions that an agent creates and updates. REST, MCP and A2A are planned as transports[4]. All of this can be built, connected to your store and ERP, and tested today.
- Data layer: a clean product feed with GTINs, attributes, prices and stock. Takes effect immediately.
- Read layer: structured data on the website and targeted access for trusted agents. Takes effect immediately.
- Order layer: a checkout interface that calculates basket, shipping and taxes live from your system and hands orders to your back office. Testable in a sandbox, live when the platforms launch.
- Payment layer: tokenised payments through your payment service provider. Can be prepared now, live when the platforms launch.
Build today and you switch on later. Wait today and you start later.
Why not just wait?
- Half of it works immediately. The data and read layers improve your visibility in AI answers today.
- Testing takes time. Order, payment, cancellation and refund must run cleanly across all systems before real customers order.
- Early merchants build a lead. When the platforms launch in Germany, the stores that are technically ready will be connected first.
- The risk is small. A clean internal interface can be connected to several protocols. You are not betting on a single provider.
We can work out where your store stands today in a short first call.
